Meet Santa Fe County Horse Coalition’s new VP Media – Trish Hug

Santa Fe County Horse Coalition is pleased to announce that Trish Hug has been named Vice President of Media. Trish has been a horse lover and owner for more than 24 years, stabling her horse, Gandalf, on her property off State Road 14 – Turquoise Trail.

An on-going student of the horse, Trish has participated in many clinics where a well-known trainer such as Buck Brannaman is sponsored to come to Santa Fe to teach individuals. She has participated in multiple clinics by the late Mark Russell in Lamy, and Mark Bolender’s Extreme Trail in Espanola.

Over the years, Trish has been active in several horse organizations in Santa Fe County including a stint as President of the Northern New Mexico Horsemen’s Association, and in trail building, maintenance, and fundraising at the Galisteo Basin Preserve. She was also a consultant to the Santa Fe City planning committee developing the La Tierra Trail System off 599, and is a long-time supporter of The Horse Shelter, the horse rescue organization near Cerrillos.

Professionally, Trish has been employed as Art Production Manager at Outside Magazine for 17 years and brings her artistic and equestrian skills to this new position at Santa Fe County Horse Coalition. Trish said, “New Mexico is The West; horses were and still are a part of that history and lifestyle. I’m excited to work with the Coalition in helping expand horse-related activities and trail access in Santa Fe County. Horse ownership supports a wide variety of business and individually employed professionals in our county, in addition to tourism. Besides, everything is more beautiful from the back of a horse.”
