Horsemen, hikers and bikers join forces to make horse trailer parking safer at La Tierra Trails

Santa Fe Horse Coalition’s VP Trails Advocacy Julie Belt worked this morning with the Trails Alliance of Santa Fe to fix the Frijoles Trailhead at La Tierra Trails to make the parking area safer for horses. Equestrians, mountain bikers, and hikers all pitched in to get the project done in record time. Julie showed up to work in spite of a broken foot. She can’t wait to get back in the saddle so she can ride at La Tierra again soon!

Removing the old railroad ties that were the cause of so many of us tripping and falling while trying to get our horses saddled up

Digging out and re-setting the railroad ties so they’re even with the ground — still marking the parking lanes, but no more tripping!

The whole group – thanks to everyone’s hard work this morning, it is going to be so much easier to park and ride from the Frijoles Trailhead!
