Santa Fe National Forest Plan Meetings

Santa Fe National Forest
10-year Management Plan
Feb. 16 – 8 p.m.
Santa Fe Community College
SFNF stretches from Mora to Cuba (east to west), and from Espanola to La Bajada (north to south).  Every decade or so, SFNF is required to inventory the property and reassess their governing management plan which is like a series of “mission statements” for the next decade.  All future projects will be required to fall in line with those goals.  They are about halfway through the writing process and seek public discussion at each step.

If you ride, hike, hunt or are a permittee on SFNF, you have a stake in the outcome and personnel at the last meeting admitted that projects are going to be driven increasingly by the user groups that step forward (that’s us).  In addition, there are sections of the forest which may be recommended to Congress (based in large part on public response) as new Wilderness.

If you can’t come in person, you may comment by email before Feb. 15th.  See all the planning documents, draft maps, and schedule of meetings at their website:  SF National Forest Management Plan
