Meet Santa Fe County Horse Coalition’s new VP Trails Advocacy – Julie Lombard Belt

Julie Lombard Belt is a dedicated equestrienne and champion of wilderness. She is often found riding the vast and scenic trails of Santa Fe County and knows them better than anyone. She scouts trails and leads rides for her Ridge Riders events for Northern New Mexico Horsemen’s Association, works tirelessly with our county planners on open space and trails issues, serves on search and rescue with Santa Fe Sheriff’s Posse, advocates for horses with Santa Fe National Forest and is a member of the  GUTS Initiative steering committee. If it involves trails and horses, Julie Belt is there representing us.  We are thrilled to have her as our VP of Trails Advocacy at Santa Fe County Horse Coalition.

Julie Lombard Belt was born and raised in Michigan. She moved to Santa Fe with her husband, Alan Belt, in 2002.  They have 2 sons: their oldest son is a Lt. Colonel in the US Marine Corps, stationed in North Carolina with his wife and 2 children; their youngest son is a Special Forces pilot, stationed in the Middle East.  Julie is semi-retired and works part-time as a legal assistant for a Santa Fe law firm. A lifelong “animal lover,” Julie has 3 horses, 2 dogs, and 3 cats, and spends as much time in the saddle as she can get away with.
