20+ equestrians showed up for the Thornton Ranch Master Plan meeting on Oct 20. We spoke up for multi-use (horse access to all trails) with parking for horse trailers.
And the county listened. The revised draft plan, which you can download below, shows 16+ miles of equestrian/multi-use trails and trailer parking coming to Thornton Ranch Open Space!
But the plan is not official yet. It is now in a 30-day public review period, until November 30, to provide input and comment before the master plan goes to the BCC on December 13 for approval.
You can download the draft plan with contact information for comments and read more about Thornton Ranch Open Space here: http://www.santafecountynm.gov/open_space_and_trails_program/thornton_ranch
Thanks to all who attended the meeting and who supported this effort. Santa Fe horsemen showed up, spoke up and really got it done.
Glad to hear that the open space may remain open to horses. Horseback riders want to enjoy this space and we respect it and will take care as we use it because we understand the need to maintain the trails for all to enjoy.
